Press Release - Announcement
" Preserving Our Past. Preparing Our Future."

After 37 years of public service, I am honored to announce my candidacy for Mayor of the City of Carencro.
In 2022, our campaign fell just 92 votes short of victory. That narrow margin reinforced an important truth: every vote matters. Since that election, many residents have shared that their voter registrations were not updated after moving to Carencro, preventing them from participating. It also reminded me that I could have worked harder to personally connect with more of you—to share my vision and listen to yours.
Over the past three years, I have remained actively engaged by attending City Council meetings, audit briefings, and staying closely informed on the issues facing our community. What encourages me most is knowing that you are paying attention as well.
During my six years as Carencro City Manager, following three years as Fire Chief, I worked collaboratively with the Mayor, City Council, and department leaders to advance more than $65 million in infrastructure improvements that are now underway. That experience confirmed what I have always believed: managing our city requires full-time focus, steady leadership, and complete commitment.
As your next Mayor, I will resume my respectful relationship with the City Council to develop a conservative budget, address past audit findings, and ensure responsible funding for infrastructure, public safety, and quality-of-life improvements.
Together, we can strengthen the small-town charm that makes Carencro special—expanding opportunities for walking, biking, recreation, and community engagement. I am committed to bringing together public officials, residents, businesses, and civic and spiritual leaders to share ideas and build consensus for our future.

Our future depends on the choices we make today.

I respectfully ask for your vote on November 3, 2026.
Don Chauvin
