MY COUSIN VINNY - HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE MOVIE?

A former City Councilwoman claims to be an eye witness to events with details to follow.

 

So, let’s take a look at her claims against the PARC Commission as a test of credibility.

 

She wrote: "The audit findings that the auditors found should not be the blame of anyone other than the PARC Commission itself and their President. The current administration is only trying to rectify that bad situation so the books can be run the way they need to be per the law. Nobody with the old PARC management should be raised to the position in the new administration simply for the horrible records kept and the amount of pushback when asked about City funds!”

 

You probably remember the famous courtroom scene where Vinny Gambini (Joe Pesci) cross-examines Mr. Tipton, a very confident eyewitness.

 

Mr. Tipton was absolutely certain about what he saw and how long it took. Five minutes!

 

That was until Vinny started asking questions about breakfast. You remember the grits, don't you?

 

Mr. Tipton insisted he'd cooked his grits in just five minutes. But regular grits take about twenty minutes.

 

In the last days of the PARC Commission, Chairman Todd Olivier requested an audit review for their past three years. Hoping to preserve their credibility for the future.

 

Here are the auditors’ remarks; “In response to your request on November 28, 2023, I am providing a succinct overview of the audit results from the past three fiscal years ending November 30, 2020, through November 30, 2022.

 

All three audits were issued with an unmodified opinion, signifying the highest level of assurance we can offer as CPAs.”

 

In closing the auditor wrote; “The net position (restricted for recreation and unrestricted) experienced an impressive growth of approximately 109% over the 2020-2022 period.”

 

And just like that, the credibility of our eye witness is destroyed.

 

Once the facts expose a serious weakness in someone's confident account, we are justified in examining their other claims very carefully.
